We are still fundraising for the Maui bench in Paia. This will be a handmade, large-scale replica of one of Mike's famous board paintings. The Paia Youth Cultural Center has welcomed our plans to install it on their property, and they are working closely with us to do whatever it takes to honor our fallen friend.

Memorial for Mike


The money you donated made a big difference. A bench in his honor is set to be installed at Orpheus Park in Encinitas in time for a dedication and memorial ceremony on June 25th! Well done!

We need about $3,000 more to ensure the Maui bench is paid for, along with flowers for the bench dedications.

Maui Bench ($4,000):

Handmade reproduction of a Mike Colby skateboard deck painting in a large format in the shape of a bench installed by the beach.

David Thomas Ryan is donating his time and expertise to craft this tribute to his friend and former colleague. Material costs and a nominal fee for his hours of work are included in this goal we've set, however undervalued at $4,000.

This bench will be installed at the Paia Youth and Cultural Center in the skate park. The Maui bench dedication event is tentatively planned for August 17th, 2016. Part of the fund, should there be any surplus, will go to providing flowers for the ceremonies.
